September 12 - Polly Crockett History Lecture - 5:00 p.m. at Cowan Center for the Arts. Steve Pearson, a local historian, will fill us in on the strong woman who was behind a great man. Polly Finlay Crockett is the legendary wife of Tennessee's iconic settler, soldier, and statesman David Crockett. This lecture is part of the ongoing history lecture series at Cowan Center for the Arts. September 17, 18 & 19 - The 28th Annual Polly Crockett Festival in downtown Cowan. A fun-filled and educational weekend sponsored by Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. The festival features over 100 juried arts and crafts, a play area for kids, hands-on demonstrations, Civil War reenactment, horse and buggy rides, food vendors, music and games, including the famous skillet toss. October 24 - Annual Brush Arbor Meeting at Boiling Fork Creek - 12:30 p.m. The Annual Brush Arbor meeting, sponsored by Cowan Ministerial Association, is a gospel gathering that recalls the pioneer-era brush arbor meetings on Boiling Fork Creek. Come and enjoy a covered-dish luncheon, gospel music, preaching, and beautiful surroundings. Event takes place in Boiling Fork Park at the bottom of Jackson Street in Cowan.
